Orbit Baby marks Earth Day with Green initiatives.
Earth friendly products, heightened corporate responsibility and donations are slated for 2007.

Newark, CA –As Earth Day approaches, and concern for the health of the planet grows, Orbit Baby is stepping up their efforts to ensure a bright future for the precious cargo their products are meant to hold.

Orbit Baby’s vision was evident when it first introduced its innovative Infant Car Seat and Stroller system in 2004.  Organized around the company’s core philosophy of less is more, the Orbit Infant Car Seat and Stroller was created to intentionally reduce the amount of gear necessary to tote a baby around.

“The vast amount of baby gear parents consume for a first baby is staggering,” says Joseph Hei, Orbit Baby CEO. “It’s estimated that the average new parent will spend upwards of $13,000 the first year of their infant’s life.  Much of this goes to the purchase of redundant or inefficiently designed products that are in-turn discarded and quickly end up in land fills.  At Orbit we feel this leaves an unacceptable environmental footprint, something that we are hoping to reduce significantly with our modular system.  We believe strongly in the philosophy of reduce, reuse, recycle.”

The Orbit Baby product group is a complete and modular system that is sensibly designed to help parents avoid accumulating tons of regretful baby gear.  This high-quality system adapts easily to a family’s changing needs without compromising safety or function.

In order to further Orbit Baby’s eco-friendly philosophy, later this year they will roll out a Green edition of their recently introduced Orbit Bassinet.  This product will feature natural and eco-friendly materials.  The company will also donate a portion of the profits from sales of the Green Orbit Bassinet Cradle to The Nature Conservancy.

Orbit is also proud to introduce a unique product recycling program.  Through this program they will make it easy for customers to recycle Orbit products that have been outgrown. Orbit products are designed for best-in-industry disassembly, so that the individual pieces can be easily recycled.

Company initiatives which have been in effect for some time include the aggressive purchase of carbon offsets through Climate Care, www.climatecare.org, which allows users to offset emissions by funding sustainable energy projects.

At the office, Orbit is working towards carbon neutrality by offsetting 100% of the electricity needs at their corporate headquarters through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) supplied by 3 Phases Energy.  This commitment from Orbit supports new wind power projects located across the nation.  The RECs purchased by Orbit are Green-e® certified which ensures they meet strict environmental and consumer protection standards established by the Center for Resource Solutions.

Orbit Baby, Inc. was launched in 2004 with the introduction of the Orbit Infant Baby System – an integrated car seat and stroller system for infants.  The product offering has grown to include a Toddler Stroller Seat, Bassinet, Rocker, and Accessory Pack.  The product group is offered in boutiques and baby gear stores throughout the United States.  Orbit Baby is headquartered in Newark, California and is led by CEO Joseph Hei, and COO Bryan White.
