Because an official federal standard for side-impact protection is not yet finalized, Orbit Baby sought out the best experts possible: the independent test laboratory that has been contracted by the US government to help develop its side-impact car seat standard. Energy Absorbing EPP Foam
Our Infant and Toddler Car Seats use premium-grade, energy-absorbing EPP (Expanded PolyPropylene) foam to help effectively distribute crash forces. EPP is generally more durable than EPS (more commonly found in other car seats) and doesn’t indent or break apart as easily.
360 degree impact protection
Side-impact collisions in laboratories happen at very specific, repeatable angles. In the real world, collisions occur from any angle. Our SmartHub™ docking system is the industry’s only circular car seat base designed for multi-directional impact protection. Four radial latches in the Infant Car Seat or Toddler Car Seat lock into the SmartHub ring to ensure the seat is secure in an impact from multiple directions.
