August 13th, 2010: Important information from Orbit Baby, Inc. and Transport Canada regarding the Orbit Baby Infant Car Seat G2
A small number of Orbit Baby Infant Car Seats sold in Canada between May 12th and June 18th 2010 were found with their official National Safety Mark (NSM) labels un-affixed. The NSM label is a black circular sticker found on the rear zippered panel of the Orbit Baby Infant Car Seat G2 (Model Number ORB823000). The label is required to be on the Orbit Baby Infant Car Seat by the Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Cushion Regulations (RSSR) in Canada. Because a small number of Orbit Baby Infant Car Seats sold in Canada were found with NSM labels that had too weak of an adhesive to keep the label affixed, Orbit Baby has since permanently changed the location of the NSM label on all Orbit Baby Infant Car Seats sold at the retail level.
Customers who purchased an Orbit Baby Infant Car Seat from a Canadian retailer between May 12, 2010 and June 18, 2010 should contact ZOOM Distribution Corp. at their toll free number (1-888-966-6911) or e-mail support@orbitbaby.ca to receive, free of charge, a new NSM label with full instructions about how to re-affix the label in the correct location.
Orbit Baby, Inc. and Transport Canada have both affirmed that there is no safety risk associated with this NSM label issue for Orbit Baby Infant Car Seats. Until the repair kit is received, customers may continue to use their Orbit Baby Infant Car Seat G2 but should carry a printed copy of this notice with them in their vehicles to avoid ticketing.
